As part of the innovation consultancy of Salesforce, anticipating technological trends and distilling what it meant for customers was paramount.
This talk focused on how designers could improve their work with AI outside of simply generating art using popular services like Midjourney or Leonardo.
For instance, great design starts with thorough research. Compiling transcripts and creating research reports can quickly eat away at the time better spent developing insights or capitalizing on opportunities. Having a research assistant to synthesize and analyze interview transcripts or key takeaways, identify top themes, and provide meaningful insights would offer invaluable support to the process.
July 2023 - Chicago Graphic Design Club
Confronting Artificial Intelligence
The Chicago Graphic Design Club and One Design Company launched the Confronting Design series with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in design. The event featured a panel discussion exploring both the positive and negative applications of AI, diving into topics like ethics, creativity, and intelligence. Attendees participated in interactive sessions, role-playing, and scenario explorations to better understand how AI can integrate into design practices and its broader implications. The series culminated in a collaborative session where participants drafted a declaration of intent on using AI responsibly and ethically within the Chicago design community.

How have video games shaped the way we consume software? How can we use that in our designs?
As an industry worth over $266BN, video games have created user language and behavior that impact how products and digital media are consumed. 70% of US adults play video games on at least one platform. The military has adopted designs from gaming software and hardware for their use and training including vehicular design and controllers. From childhood to adulthood, motor skills and reactions developed to succeed in games can be transferred to how we work.
