My talk was amongst 30 of 800 applicants accepted and proposed that UX designers could benefit from looking to video games for patterns and trends. How have video games shaped the way we consume software? How can we use that in our designs?

A critical look at how designs impact disability. Using the social model of disability, this talk reviews examples of poor design that excludes people and the resulting cultural shifts such as the spread of misinformation in news or challenges in technology.

Tech Shift with WBEZ / NPR

Once a week during Afternoon Shift, the programming would focus on trends in technology with Tech Shift. I’ve been invited twice to speak as a technological expert on subjects including how tech philanthropy impacted the search for an Ebola cure to the ramifications of Illinois’ cyberbullying law.

This is a talk given in the Pecha Kucha format, 20 slides with 20 seconds for each, about how as designers we have to imbue the data we rely on with thoughtfulness and a humane perspective.
